A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Asari-Toru Local Government in Rivers State Alabo George Kelly has called on the Nigeria Police Force to arrest former council chairman of the Ojukaye Flag Amachree for hitting down a security personnel in Abalama during the March 19 re-run National and State Assembly election in the State.
Alabo George Kelly while addressing newsmen in Port Harcourt after the March 19 re-run election said the former council chairman rammed over the security personnel after  hitting him down which led to the death of the uniform personnel.
George Kelly also alleged that Ojukaye Flag Amachree who is a chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the area masterminded the killings and violence that marred the re-run election in the area.
According to him, PDP faithful and supporters where denied the opportunity to exercise their franchise during last Saturday’s elections.
He stated that members of the APC are afraid of conducting free and fair elections because of the popularity of the PDP candidate for the Asari-Toru constituency II, Emeni Alabo George.
George Kelly revealed that the APC connive with some electoral officers to rig the re-run elections. The PDP leader in Asari-Toru noted that the people of the area resisted every attempt by the APC and electoral officers to rig the election.
He also alleged that the electoral officials deliberately omitted PDP logo from the result sheets and accused the APC of the ploy to rig out PDP.
Also the PDP candidate for the Asari-Toru Constituency II, Emeni Alabo George accused the All Progressives Congress APC to rig the elections. Emeni George said the omission of PDP logo from the result sheet is a ploy by the APC to rig the elections.
He stated that the deliberate omission of the party logo is a big slap on INEC. The PDP Candidate stated that the violence that marred the election was a way of disenfranchising the electorates from performing their civic responsibilities.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, had already suspended the March 19 re-run election in Asari-Toru and seven other Local Government Areas. The other Local Government Areas are Bonny, Gokana, Eleme, Tai, Andoni, Khana, and Etche.
INEC in a statement cited massive irregularities and violence as the reason for the suspension of the election in the area. Some of the unofficial results trickling in from different polling units shows that the PDP is leading the APC in the polls.
In a related development, the former Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government and APC chieftain Ojukaye Flag Amachree has denied any involvement in the violence that marred the re-run election in the area.
The former council chairman in a statement signed by his press secretary Asi Prince Dateme said Flag Amachree has no hand in the chaos that was witness last Saturday in Asari-Toru. The statement however, admitted that Flag Amachree hit a Peace Corps member in Abalama.
He described the incidence as an accident. Prince Dateme added that the former council boss was not inside the car when the incident happened.
