The Super Eagles of Nigeria, are set for a tough 2018 World Cup qualifying draw in June, after they dropped five places to 67th, in the April FIFA rankings.

Egypt, who qualified from Group G for the AFCON 2017 ahead of Nigeria, moved up nine places to 44 and are now among Africa’s top five teams.

This latest ranking will enhance the Pharoahs’ chances of being among the top five seeds, when the World Cup draws are held on June 24.

The Eagles will, however, find themselves in a difficult group, that will have at least two teams higher ranked than them. The only way to improve this, is to play against better rated teams in the FIFA friendly window in June.

Africa’s current top 10 are: Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Senegal, Egypt, Cape Verde, Tunisia, DR Congo, Guinea and Congo.

Cameroon, Morocco and Mali are also above Nigeria.
