While Beyoncé may have attempted to thwart speculation about her marriage when she shouted out to her hubby Jay Z during the first night of her Formation World Tour on Wednesday, it didn’t stop the alarms from sounding when people noticed the power couple had removed their wedding rings.
Photographed backstage during the show, Bey was notably missing her $5 million diamond rock. Some might chalk it up to her taking extra precautions while performing. However, the timing is a little too coincidental in relation to all the speculation surrounding the topic of infidelity on Lemonade.
Their lack of wedding bands may be due to their more permanent symbol of love for one another: matching IV tattoos on their ring fingers. The couple originally got the ink to symbolize their wedding date of April 4, 2008, as well as the fact that both of their birthdays fall on the fourth ( Bey is Sept. 4 and Jay Z is Dec. 4).
However, it’s been rumored that the singer was in the process of removing the tattooas she posted a photo with a bandaid over the ink in 2014. Since then, the ink appears to be fading more and more over time.
Not to mention, all the talk surrounding Bey’s Lemonade, lyrics about cheating and “Becky with the good hair” have only heightened speculation around their marital problems.
Still, despite all the hoopla, Queen B made it a point to profess her love for Jay during her performance of “Halo” on Wednesday.
“I want to dedicate this song to my beautiful husband,” she said, “I love you so much.”
