Go Round fc defeated Heartland fc of Owerri two one at the Krisdera Stadium, Omoku in a week 16 group B fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL.

This is Go Round FC’s first ever win over Heartland in the top flight.

Last it was 1-1 in Omoku and a 1-0 win for Heartland in Owerri. This season, Heartland won 1-0 in Okigwe, courtesy of an Okon Otop goal.

With the victory over Heartland fc, Go Round fc has now moved to the 6th position on the group B NPFL table after 16 matches.

Heartland’s manager, Ransom Madu during his post match interview said Go Round FC were lucky to pick the three points at stake in Sunday League game but Willy Udube is happy he ended up winner.

“First of all the loss was a very painful one because of the way we conceded the second goal. Apart from that it was a good match. The rain disturbed but the two teams played well,” Madu said.

“We were here to collect the points but unfortunately we did not make it. The rains ruined our plans for today. I am not saying the rain affected just us (Heartland), I will say they are lucky to win. They are just lucky to carry the day.”

On his part, the Coach of Go Round fc Willy Udube said he was happy with his team’s hard earned victory over Heartland fc.

He said the rains should not be blamed for Heartland’s loss in Omoku.

“Rains do not determine if good football will be played. If you have a good team and it starts raining you may start playing what you are not taught. This is the first time we are playing under these kinds of conditions,” Udube said.

“It was not an easy one. The rains never allowed us to play. We were able to get a victory. In rain games you do not see the best of your team but we are building and will make the best of it,” Udube said, so excited he could hardly sit in one place.

“This is my first time to start Adelani in a game like this. We had to work on his mentality. I strongly believed that after the equaliser he would score and I am not surprised he did so today.”
