Rivers Governorship Petition: Tribunal affirms Henry Bello as legal counsel to AAC

The Governorship Petition Tribunal sitting in Port Harcourt has confirmed HENRY BELLO as the authentic legal representative of African Action Congress at the tribunal and not Senior Advocate of Nigeria, TAWO TAWO.

The Lead Judge, Justice.JA.ORJIAKOR while giving its ruling on the motion ruled that TAWO TAWO, SAN, was duly notified on the change of counsel by the Acting National Chairman of African Action Congress, AAC, LEONARD EZENWA.

The judge ruled that the National Chairman has the right to appoint and change counsels as stipulated in its party constitution.

He said that the application brought by TAWO TAWO, SAN, to set aside the appointment of HENRY BELLO as the counsel to AAC is setback to processes

Speaking to newsmen outside the court, HENRY BELLO said the party can now proceed with case at the tribunal after his confirmation as the lawyer to AAC.

ADEGBE DAVID, the lawyer to AAC Governorship candidate FESTUS AWARA, said they will meet with their client to know their next line of action.

Our correspondent reports that the case was adjourned to first of July for adoption.

Also, the Governorship petition Tribunal has adjourned the case between the Governorship candidate of Peoples Progressives Party PPP CLIFFORD EDUNUKO on July 30th for further hearing.

The Lead Judge, Justice .J.A.ORJIAKOR adjourned the case after cross examination of the PPP candidate CLIFFORD EDUNUKO and a senior legal officer from INEC AHMED ISMEAL .

The tribunal after the cross examination of the witnesses ask the lawyers to write their final addresses before the next adjourned date.

The lawyer to INEC ABDULRAKIM MUSTAPHA SAN, said the PPP Governorship candidate CLIFFORD EDUNUKO was not duly nominated by his party for the march 9th governorship election.

The lawyer to PPP Candidate, KPOMASIRICHI OTEYI insisted that his client was unlawfully excluded by INEC from contesting the governorship election.
