Lawyers in Rivers State lament incessant attacks on members

The Nigeria Bar Association NBA in Rivers State has raised concern over kidnapping and assassination of its members in the State.

The Nigeria Bar Association NBA in Rivers State comprises of Port Harcourt, Ahoada, Isiokpo, Bori, Okrika, Degema, Okehi, and Omoku stated this during a press conference after an emergency Executive Committee meeting in Port Harcourt.

The Chairman of NBA Port Harcourt Branch, SYLVESTER ADAKA while briefing newsmen condemned the recent kidnap of one of its members, IYKE EMELOGU who was kidnapped in Eneka on the 4th of August 2019.

The Chairman of NBA Port Harcourt Branch, SYLVESTER ADAKA also call for the immediate and unconditional release of all lawyers in the state.

He stated that the lawyers may withdraw their professional services from all pending cases of kidnappings, cultism, and armed robbery if the menace continues.

In the meantime, lawyers under the aegis of Eastern Bar Forum have called for an unconditional release of one of their members IKECHI EMELUGO who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

The Chairman Governing Board of Eastern Bar Forum, SOSEIPRIYE LONGWILLIAMS while briefing newsmen on the incident appealed to the kidnappers to release IKECHI EMELUGO to his family.

SOSEIPRIYE LONGWILLIAMS also called on the security agencies to step-up their game on the protection of lives and properties.
