The management of Rangers International F.C of Enugu says the family members of their late attacking sensation, Ifeanyi George, will get the insurance compensation due the player as soon as government eased the lock-down due to Covid-19 pandemic.

The General Manager of Enugu Rangers Prince Davidson Owumi, said that the insurance company, Premier Brokers Limited, has paid the insurance premium claims on the death of Ifeanyi George, who died in a ghastly auto-crash in March, 2020 along Asaba-Benin express road on his way to Lagos to be with his family members after the NPFL announced a break due to coronavirus.

“Despite the fact that we still mourn the sudden death of Ifeanyi George, our former attacker, we are glad to announce that the club is in possession of the Insurance premium due for the immediate family of the late footballer which will be presented as soon as the lock-down in almost all the states of the federation is relaxed,” stated the former NPL boss.

The astute football administrator further said, “We are hoping that the man who made this possible, H.E, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the executive governor of Enugu state will be available to make the presentation on the chosen date as a show of respect for another first from him. Remember he also approved and commissioned the first club owned gymnasium in the country.”

Recall that Enugu state government under the administration of Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, wasted no time in approving the group personal accident insurance policy for players and officials of the club for in and out of field play accidents as soon as the current management made the proposal available to his desk.

Chidi Ofo Okenwa who died on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

Prince Davidson Owumi made this known as he led the management team to condole with the wife of the late football technocrat stressing, “The late football administrator, Chidi Ofo Okenwa left us when he was needed most. We are personally touched as the most ‘Senior Son’ of the many ‘Children’ of the association he headed before his demise. We mourn his death.”
