Banigo donate vocational materials to Port Harcourt Correctional center

Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Harry Banigo has donated various items to support the ongoing vocational training programme for inmates of the Port Harcourt Maximum Correctional Centre.

Speaking during the donation on Wednesday 15th July, 2020 the Deputy Governor who was represented by Mrs. Inegogo Fubara said the gesture was in response to a request made by the Port Harcourt Maximum Correctional Service.

Dr. Banigo, who expressed the hope that the inmates would use the skills acquired to better their lives after being released from the correctional facility, commended the management of the facility for the initiative to empower inmates with skills.

Dr. Banigo noted that it behoves on Christians to remember those in prison and the less privileged said our Lord Jesus Christ has commanded us to render selfless services in Matthew 25:36, which says “Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me”.

Responding, the Deputy Controller of Correctional Services DCC Ibrahim Usman expressed gratitude to the Deputy Governor for her continuous support to the Correctional Services, stressing that the items would assist them in their rehabilitation and reformation programme.

Items donated include sewing machines, and accessories, welding machines, hair clippers, dryers, and accessories.
