The Eastern Bar Forum has called for the sack or the resignation of the service Chiefs in the country over the insecurity situation in the country.

The Eastern Bar Forum is the umbrella body of all the branches of the Nigerian Bar Association in the states of the old Eastern region of Nigeria.

The Forum made the call in a communiqué released by the Governor of the Eastern Bar Forum, Soseipriye Long-Williams, at the end of the 3rd Quarterly General Meeting of the group in Aba.

Soseipriye Long-Williams said the federal government and the service chiefs have failed woefully in confronting and putting a lasting and sustainable solution to the security situation facing the country.

The Forum also denounced government failure in delivering good governance which has plunged the country into another recession.

The Lawyers Forum, however, condemn the federal government’s attitude of treating known terrorist groups like Boko Haram with kids gloves, while clamping down on citizens who seek legal means to ventilate their grievances.

The Forum after a robust deliberation on the state of the nation took the following resolutions;

  1. That the federal government has failed woefully in frontally confronting and putting a lasting and sustainable solution to the grave security situation facing the country.
  2. The Forum denounced government failure in its enterprise of delivering good governance, which has plunged Nigerians into abject poverty, pain, sorrow, tears, and want. It further stated that any group including the government who cannot guarantee the protection of lives and property, including promoting the economic and social wellbeing of its citizenry has no business being in government.
  3. The situation is made much worse by a government of lies and half-truth and by an inept, disorientated, confused, shameless, and expired military leadership and therefore called for the resignation of all the service chiefs and or their immediate sack from office.

4.That President Muhammadu Buhari lacks the needed capacity and   capability to govern the country as he has not only failed in protecting the lives, properties of Nigerians but has plunged Nigerians into abject poverty, want, disease and death, therefore he should do the honourable thing and preserve whatever honour that may be left in him by tendering his resignation as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
