PDP Members Condemn Arrest of supporters of Governor Fubara in Abuja

Following the arrest of supporters of Governor Siminialayi Fubara in Abuja, some members of the People’s Democratic Party PDP under the aegis of simplified movement in Ahaoda West Local Government Area demanded for immediate release of the member representing its constituency SOKARI GOODBOY from police detention.

The Leader of the group, Reason Onyia made the demand while briefing the newsmen in Port Harcourt

Reason Onyia who condemned the arrest also appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the matter to enable the release of the detained assembly member.

Reason Onyia also called on the inspector general of police to investigate the matter and fish out the people behind the arrest.

On his part, a former assembly member in ahaoda west, Dr Sam Eligwe said the people of Ahaoda West will take legal action if their lawmaker is not released.

On her part, a stakeholder in Ahaoda West Local Government Area Dr PATRICIA OGBONNA also called on President Bola Tinubu and the Inspector General of police to handle the matter properly, to avoid restiveness in the state.

In the meantime, the Rivers State Ethnic Youth Leaders Coalition has condemned what they describe as an unlawful arrest of supporters of Governor Fubara, Sokari Goodboy, and Ezebunwo Ichemati by security agencies in Abuja during the PDP NEC Meeting.

The Chairman, of Rivers State Ethnic Youth Leaders Coalition Dr. LEGBORSI YAAMAABANA at a press conference in Port Harcourt said such action undermines the principles of justice and fair treatment enshrined in the constitution.

The President of, the Ogoni Youth Federation, Dr. LEGBORSI YAAMAABANA also called on the Nigerian Police to abstain from involvement in politics and instead prioritize impartiality and adherence to the rule of law.

Meanwhile, the Rivers Peace Initiative has called on political leaders and youths involved in the saga to reconsider their actions for the state’s greater good.

The Convener of Rivers Peace Initiative Obinna Ebogidi in a statement asked political leaders and their followers to desist from engaging in actions that could destabilize the state.

The Convener of Rivers Peace Initiative Obinna Ebogidi further asked political leaders to sheathe their swords for the sake of peace and unity in Rivers State.
