Controversy has continued to trail the suspension of a supporter of Governor Siminialayi Fubara in Rivers State and the Member representing Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Awaji-Inombek Abiante.
Awaji-Inombek Abiante Leaders was suspended on Monday 29th April 2024 by stakeholders and members of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP at Ngo Ward One in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
A resolution from a meeting held at the Ward One office at Ngo was read by the Caretaker Committee Chairman of PDP, Ngo Ward One, Andoni LGA, Dike Bara.
He alleged that the reason for the suspension of the Federal lawmaker, Awaji-Inombek Dagomie Abiante was because of his involvement in creating factions in the party.
The suspension was also ratified by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Andoni Local Government Area.
The Chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Paul Ayagwung said that the suspension of the Federal Lawmaker, Awaji-Inombek Abiante has been affirmed after an emergency meeting of the LGA party executives
Paul Ayagwung explained that his executives recommended the suspension to the State leadership of the PDP after a thorough investigation of the alleged wrongdoings of Abiante.
Meanwhile, the Owuokagakemi Lawrence-led Caretaker Executive Committee Members and leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ngo Town Ward 1, said the purported suspension of the Member representing Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency Awaji-Inombek Abiante by one Dike Bara and Dokubor Jackson who are not members of the party is unlawful and should be disregarded by the general public.
The Chairman Caretaker Executive Committee of Ward 1 NGO Town Andoni, OWUOKAGAKEMI LAWRENCE while reading the communiqué said the Member representing Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency Awaji-inombek Dagomie Abiante, is still a valid member of the Peoples Democratic Party and leader of the party in Andoni Local Government Area.
The Chairman Caretaker Executive Committee of Ward 1 NGO Town Andoni, OWUOKAGAKEMI LAWRENCE further called on Awaji-Inombek Abiante, its supporters, and the party faithful in Andoni to remain calm and focus on supporting Governor Siminalayi Fubara who has demonstrated huge love to the people in less than a year in office.
The statement read: “The attention of the Caretaker Executive Committee Members and leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ngo Town Ward 1, headquarters of Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State has been brought to a reckless announcement by some illegal persons claiming to be officials of the party and purportedly suspending Rep. Awaji-Inombek Dagomie Abiante, PhD, Member representing Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency and Leader of the party in Andoni LGA.
“In the light of the above, we therefore, as the party recognized CTC Executive in ward 1, Ngo, state as follows: That Rep. Awaji-number Dagomie Abiante, PhD, is still a valid member of the Peoples Democratic Party and leader of the party in Andoni Local Government Area and call on the general public to ignore his purported suspension as their antics of frustrated politicians particularly in Andoni and Rivers State who are discomforted by his towering political profile.”
