LG Chairman in Rivers State orders surveillance over suspected cholera outbreak

Following the report of a suspected cholera outbreak in the Ajakaja community in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, the Chairman Caretaker Committee of the council, Reginald Ekaan has ordered the immediate deployment of a rapid response team to the community.

The report of the suspected cholera outbreak followed similar cases at Ngo Town, the Headquarters of the Local Government as well as the Oyorokoto community which have been contained following prompt response.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary, of Andoni Local Government Council, Iwor Romgbo further said that the Caretaker Committee Chairman also ordered the immediate construction of boreholes in the Ajakaja community.

He said the provision of portable drinking water to the community and treatment of drinking water sources in the area is a major priority to the council.

He also said that the measures are to ensure the safety of the community and its environs.

The Statement further advised all Andoni citizens to practice safe water hygiene by boiling their water before drinking.

He equally assured the people of Andoni of his unwavering commitment to protecting the people by fighting all health-related issues with the resources available at his disposal.

Andoni Council Chairman assigns Portfolios to CTC Members

In the meantime, the Chairman Caretaker Committee of Andoni Local Government Area, Reginald Ekaan has assigned portfolios to the 6 Caretaker Committee Members.

The list includes Inwon Fyneface Ayayi as Supervisor for Works/Transport; Okereke Kalu Uche as Supervisor for Youths and Sports and Emem Ekanem, as Supervisor for Welfare and Entrepreneurship.

Others are Kpunukpo Amakiri Gogo as Supervisor for Women’s Affairs; John Idante Ishmael as the Supervisor for Education while Warisofini Nkere will serve as the Supervisor for Agriculture.

The Chairman urged the Supervisors to put in their best in the discharge of their duties to ensure peace and security in the council.

The Andoni Council Chairman Reginald Ekaan also appointed Ubokikwan Nteijah Appolos as the Council Secretary, and Inyongireyiekene Joseph Ataisi as Chief of Staff.

Also appointed are Taribo Nathan- Deputy Chief of Staff, Egele Joel Anipuya-Chief Protocol Officer, and Iwor Romgbo Obi as Chief Press Secretary as well as 13 Special Advisers with over 100 Special Assistants.

The Andoni Council Chairman in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary said all appointments take immediate effect.
