The National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed the petition of the candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA Ibalibo Amachree against the victory of Boma Goodhead of PDP for the Asari-Toru/Akuku-Toru Federal Constituency.
Ibalibo Amachree had gone to the tribunal seeking the court to declare him the winner of the election after claiming that he won the election with the highest number of votes cast.
The tribunal while delivering its judgment dismissed the petition for lack of merit.
The tribunal lead Judge, Justice k.Kaigama said that the petitioner Ibalibo Amachree could not prove that he secured the highest number of votes during the election.
The tribunal also upheld that Boma Goodhead was duly elected to represent the people of Asari-Toru and Akuku-Toru at the National Assembly.
Our correspondent reports that the tribunal ordered the petitioner Ibalibo Amachree of APGA to pay the sum of 200 thousand naira each to the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, and the candidate of PDP for the Asari-Toru/Akuku-Toru federal constituency BOMA GOOD HEAD.
In the meantime, the lawmaker Representing Asari-Toru/Akuku Federal Constituency BOMA GOODHEAD has described the tribunal judgment as the wish of her people.
BOMA GOODHEAD while addressing newsmen after the tribunal judgment said she will continue to represent her people at the National Assembly to the best of her ability.
She said that she was never distracted in her service to the people of Akuku-Toru and Asari-Toru federal constituency during the period of the tribunal proceedings.
