A High Court in PortHarcourt has fixed May 4, 2020, for Judgment on the fundamental rights suit filed by Runke Ferry Gberegbe against the Nigeria Police, former SARS Commander ACP Akin Fakorede and the Police Service Commission for allegedly killing her husband Dr. Ferry Gberegbe.

Justice Adolphus Enebeli fixed the judgment day after listening to the oral submissions and written addresses of lawyers in the matter.

The lawyer to the Gberegbe family, Lezina Amegwa said he is optimistic that the court will grant his application for compensation from Police to the widow of Dr. Ferry Gberegbe.

On his part, lawyer to the Police Essien Edet said his clients the police and the named officials did not kill Dr. Ferry Gberegbe and should not be made to pay any compensation to the family.

He insisted that there was a ploy to hide the truth because the family of the Ferry Gberegbe denied police access to see the corpse or conduct autopsy on the deceased who has already been buried two weeks ago.
