Covid-19: RIVLED, PHACIMA commence distribution of food items in Rivers State

A Non-Governmental Organization, Rivers Local Enterprise Development Initiative RIVLED has asked Rivers people to comply with the state at home order of the state government in a bid to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.

The President of RIVLED Dr. Leloonu Nwibubasa said this during the distribution of food items and essential materials to the most vulnerable in Rivers State.

The project is in conjunction with the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Mines, Agriculture and Industries PHACIMA and other organized private sector.

Dr. Leloonu Nwibubasa said the gesture is to assist the most vulnerable ones in the state during the lockdown and closure of markets over coronavirus pandemic.

He said they intend to touch twenty-three thousand persons in the 23 local government area of Rivers State.

Nwibubasa said the project was targeted at enforcing the stay at home order by giving out the food items to the most vulnerable ones to enable them to cope with the lockdown and prevent frustration among Rivers people.

In his comment, Nabil Saleh, the chairman of Port Harcourt Chamber Of Commerce said they activated their structure to deliver to all the 319 Wards in the 23 LGAs in Rivers State to ease the pain caused by COVID-19 pandemic.

Saleh emphasised the urgent need for the Private Sector to show corporate social responsibility and compassion, particularly at uncertain times like this.

He expressed the need to partner with bodies like RIVLED who has the capacity and structure to reach every household in Rivers State.

Some of the beneficiaries of the programme commended the RIVLED foundation for the gesture.
