NYCN commence palliative distribution to youths across the country

In a bid to reduce the effect of lockdown across the country, the National Youth Country of Nigeria NYCN has commenced palliative distribution of over 20 thousand bags of rice and garri for youths and vulnerable people across the country.

The National President of National Youth Council of Nigeria NYCN Sukubo Sara-Igbe while flagging-off the palliative distribution in Port Harcourt said the food items is to enable Nigerians to comply with the stay at home order.

Sukubo Sara-Igbe said the palliatives will be distributed across the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria.

He said the gesture was to reduce the burden of hardship caused to citizens of the country especially the youths who rely mostly on daily means of sustenance.

”Consequently, the federal government, state and local governments have developed various strategies in ensuring that citizens are not terribly affected by the virus. These include the lockdown of some parts of the country and partial lockdown in others”.

”These actions though in good faith have, however, caused hardship to citizens of the country especially the youth population most of who rely on daily means of sustenance”.

”It is on the strength of this therefore, that, I, the President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in collaboration with my Executive Members and some critical partners deem it necessary to give out some palliatives to the youths in Nigeria to cushion the effects of the lockdown as a result of the covid-19”.

”Accordingly, the Youth Council under my leadership is giving out twenty thousand bags of food items which include: Garri, Rice, Beans and cartons of Indomie Noodles to youths in all the states of the federation. This gesture as I mentioned earlier, is in collaboration with the Belema Oil Producing Ltd, and Jack-Rich Tien Aid Foundation” he said.

The National President of National Youth Council of Nigeria NYCN SUKUBO SARA-IGBE while commending the federal and state governments over their efforts in curtailing the spread of covid-19 also asked Nigerians to obey every measures put in place by health agencies.

Sara-Igbe also lauded the Medical and Health workers who are on the frontline in the war against covid-19 pandemic for their selfless and dedicated services.

He, however, commended the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare for his commitment is transforming the sector under a short period of time.

The NYCN President said the youth body will remain loyal to the Minister’s dream of making the country a better place for the youths in the country.

Also speaking, the Secretary of NYCN in Rivers State, Barine Yaale and Chairman of the Coordinators Forum Kingsley Dimkpa during their comments promise to ensure equal distribution of the palliatives to youths across the nation.
