Young golfers in Degema, Asari-Toru, and Akuku-Toru, and Emohua Local Government Areas will participate in a one-day golf tournament put together by King Amachree Sports Academy.

The one-day golf tournament is expected to hold on 17th December 2021 at Dax George Kelly Golf Arena in Degema Local Government Area.

The Director King Amachree Sports Academy Benibo Amieyeofori said the young golfers are drawn from different primary and secondary school kids in the area.

Benibo Amieyeofori said the tournament has the approval of the Nigeria Golf Federation who has also approved the programmes of the King Amachree Sports Academy.

He said the one-day golf competition will feature chipping and potting and drilling the range.

Benibo Amieyeofori noted that mouth-watering prizes await winners of the competition.

”Our target first is the school kids there. The primary school and secondary school kids. If we have the chipping and potting event at the George Kelly Arena this December, we’ll be having it every quarter. It’s a fun thing. We’ll have a lot of mobile ranges where you can hit 200 box, 500 box. It will be fun” he said.

The Zonal Representative of Nigeria Golf Federation Bako Emmanuel in a chat with our correspondent said the federation will continue to promote grassroots programmes across the country.

He said that the Nigeria Golf Federation will assist King Amachree Sports Academy to develop the sports at the grassroots.

”Firstly, it’s more developmental and then regulations. So, these two things are a very big spectrum of work that the federation has to do. The current president and its board members are very passionate about development because we’re trying to look at ourselves in the next ten to twenty years what do we bring out. So we’re trying to lay foundations for it. That’s the basic thing we do as a federation” he said
