President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday guaranteed Nigerians that there will be no increase in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), or petrol, anyplace in the country.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, noted that the market has been deregulated and will remain so.

He underlined that the administration will address the shortcomings within the midstream and downstream petroleum subsectors to maintain prices where they are without having to resort to a reversal of the administration’s policy in the petroleum industry.

This comes less than 24 hours after the Nigerian Public Petrol Organization (NNPC) denied rumours of a planned increase in the price of petrol.

The NNPC in a statement on Monday night encouraged Nigerians to ignore hypotheses of a new hike in the cost of PMS which is a direct response to the Nigeria Labour Congress warning.

The NLC President, Joe Ajaero, on Monday, cautioned that it would embark on an indefinite strike if the NNPC increases the cost of PMS.

The NNPC has frequently increased the price of petrol since the assumption of office of President Bola Tinubu.
