Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, has disclosed plans to sue President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government should a loan be obtained from China.

According to a Naij report, Falana claims that the move will plunge the nation into more “indebtedness”, suggesting that more should be done to recover funds that were either remitted to the Federation Account or stolen from the nation’s treasury.

Falana warned the Government against increasing Nigeria’s external debt to a whopping $64 billion, urging it to rather take a loan of $2.5 billion from the World Bank and $1 billion from the African Development Bank.

“In urging the Federal Government to desist from taking the loan of $2bn from China or any other country we are compelled to advise the Federal Government to intensify efforts to recover the nation’s wealth which has been criminally diverted by a handful of local and foreign looters,” Falana said in a letter.

The development follows shortly after news that Buhari will be spending a week in China in order to negotiate a loan for the use of the Federal Government.
