Fresh facts have emerged on why the Lagos- Calabar rail project was removed from the budget.

Besides geopolitical interests, the removal of the project from the Budget 2016 was done partly to spite  the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi for distancing himself from his former colleagues in the Senate notably Senate President Bukola Saraki and Senator Danjuma Goje

Amaechi was told by associates in the Senate that Goje was not happy with him because he had teamed up with the Buhari people against his former colleagues in the Governors’ Forum.

Goje it was learnt was not happy that Amaechi had not intervened  in the ongoing trial of Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT.)

It was gathered that on account of the information, Amaechi had to visit Goje to solicit his help on the passage of the budget proposals of the Ministry of Transportation.

Goje is the Chairman of the Senate Appropriation committee

The Senate has asked Amaechi to resign over the matter.
